TECHNOLOGICAL SCHEMES OF TREE AND SHRUBBERY VEGETATION REMOVAL WHILE CARRYING OUT LAND CLEARANCE OPERATIONS (OVERWIEW)

Annotation

The aim of the research is the analysis and evaluation of main technological schemes for the tree and shrubbery vegetation removal while carrying out land clearance operations. The studies were conducted taking into account the scientific and practical studies of Russian scientists and were based on experimental and theoretical methods for carrying out land clearance operations for various regions of Russia. The following technological schemes: tree and shrubbery vegetation cutting, scheme for tree and shrubbery vegetation removing by the method of separate extraction and raking, as well as by combing out roots, removal of shrubbery vegetation using the plowing method and using machines milling wood are considered. It was determined by studies of a number of authors that cutting tree and shrubbery vegetation is rational to be used for plowing shallow (diameter less than 150 mm) and medium shrubs (150–200 mm) on soils with deep (more than 30 cm) humus layer, stump extraction should be carried out at a minimal bringing underlying poor soil layers to the surface, and tree and shrubbery vegetation should be left on the site for drying up soil on the roots. The combing technology provides for the shrubs extraction with a diameter of up to 150 mm from the soil, as well as small stumps and roots by mounted root-extracting harrows. Despite various technological approaches to the removal of the tree and shrubbery vegetation, the final stage of each method is the wood leftovers collection and disposal. It is necessary to outline the main acceptable ways of tree and shrubbery vegetation utilization in agriculture within the framework of current legislation. Taking into account the modern requirements of production and the peculiarities of the soil and climatic conditions, an important task nowadays is the theoretical substantiation and further improvement of technological operations to reduce the tree and shrubbery vegetation.
Key words: land clearance operations, tree and shrubbery vegetation, technological scheme, stump extraction, rotary cultivating, shrub plowing, bulldozers.
