GULLY MODELING FOR FOREST RECLAMATION PURPOSES
- Land Reclamation, Recultivation, and Land Protection
The article considers the reasons of the degradation of irrigated lands in Kashkadarya region, Republic of Uzbekistan, and proposes the activities to control negative consequences of degradation. For the period of 1991-2010 the average reliability rating bonitet for irrigated soils in the Republic decreased from 60 to 53 points. The developed measures on including alfalfa in crop rotations will slow down the degradation process at irrigated lands of the Republic of Uzbekistan what enables to improve the ameliorative status of lands and rise up crop yields. Increase investments for recovery irrigation and drainage network, as well as the enhancement of water consumption management efficiency allows increasing the efficiency of irrigated lands use and decrease their degradation. The proposed measures can suspend land degradation, increase crop yield and soil fertility which results in increasing the efficiency of irrigation land use.
