DEVELOPING THE RESEARCH ON THE EXISTENCE OF ZONES WITH CONTRAGRADIENT FLOW IN SMOOTH PIPES

Annotation

The article deals with the results of the analysis of power law distribution of averaged velocities in the longitudinally uniform flows. The purpose of investigation is to confirm the existence of a wall layer inside the flow where the coefficient of turbulent viscosity is negative. To achieve the set goal computing experiment was used. Data obtained allow concluding that in the frame of power law distribution of averaged velocities near a solid wall the layer with negative turbulent viscosity exists. The thickness of the layer depends on the Reynolds number and changes in a wide enough range from 0.015 of hydraulic radius to negligible values. At a wall and at the axis of a pipe kinematic coefficient of turbulent viscosity has negative value. This is explained by the fact that the power law here does not satisfy the boundary condition. When the distance from the wall equals to the thickness of a layer with negative coefficient of turbulent viscosity at external boundary, the coefficient of turbulent viscosity equals to zero, what was substantiated by preliminary analysis. The relation of the thickness of a layer with negative coefficient of turbulent viscosity to hydraulic radius depends on the Reynolds function found in the frame of the power law for distribution equals to the same relation earlier found for the author’s own model. In the case of the other distribution laws of averaged velocities in longitudinally uniform flows the power law provides the existence of a layer with contrgradient flow near a solid wall.

Key words: averaged velocity, contragradient flow, negative turbulent viscosity, power low distribution of averaged velocities.
