GULLY MODELING FOR FOREST RECLAMATION PURPOSES
- Land Reclamation, Recultivation, and Land Protection
The article describes a design of vertical injection moisturizer for subsurface irrigation of woody plants. The idea under study of using this design for supplying irrigation water directly into zone containing the main part (weight) of root systems of perennial garden plants is not new, but the level of its development does not yet allow gardeners to realize it in practical activities. Constructive solution was developed simultaneously with practical tests of injector pilot models in field and laboratory conditions on the soils of different textures. The result was the adoption a final design and improved mobile vertical moisturizer with recommended parameters: diameter of the tip injection device should be slightly larger than the diameter of the injection device (4 mm); the number of water discharge orifices should be no more than two; maximum length of injection device (subsurface part) – 30 cm; pressure head created by the water capacity should not exceed 0.5 m. The considered irrigation technology and means of its implementing relate to the local irrigation of plants and occupy an intermediate position between surface drip irrigation and subsurface irrigation. It includes the obvious advantages of these irrigation methods. This irrigation technology is realized by the use of mobile vertical subsurface injection moisturizer, providing trickle supply of irrigation water in the specified place and at a given depth of soil space.
