PHYTOMASS VOLUME OF FOREST SHELTERBELTS AS A FACTOR OF THEIR AMELIORATIVE IMPACT

Annotation

The aim of this research is to explain ameliorative impact of forest shelterbelts through their phytomass volume, relation of plant substance mass to volume of above-ground part of the stand. It is established that phytomass volume depends on growing conditions, species composition, age, and timber stock. Phytomass volume determines the ameliorative impact of forest shelterbelts through wind regime and snow accumulation at the fields situated between shelterbelts. Analysis of forest reclamation areas in the Rostov region has shown that high phytomass volume was characterized by the index of more than 0.65 kg/m³, average – 0.34 to 0.65, and low – less than 0.34 kg/m³. Wind regime is offered to characterize by coefficient of kinetic energy, which is considered as a relation of this energy in the area of ameliorative impact of forest belts and at the control plot (the middle of the field.) Snow accumulation is offered to characterize by coefficient of snow water reserve, relation of this reserves in the area of reclamation impact of forest belts and at the control plot of the field. Equation of multiple connections of the coefficients of kinetic wind energy and reserves of snow water at the fields between the belts with phytomass volume and width of forest belts are obtained. Carried out studies allow forecasting ameliorative impact of forest belts and define their species composition in forest reclamation areas of the Rostov region.

Keywords: forest shelterbelt, phytomass volume of stand, reclamation, kinetic wind energy, snow water reserve.
