THE WAYS OF BRACKISH WATER USE FOR IRRIGATION (OVERVIEW)

Annotation

The paper considers the problem of water resources deficit and the opportunity of using brackish water for irrigation. Two ways of brackish water use are proposed: 1) without water treatment considering the biological specifics of crops and using different management practices for increasing salt tolerance; 2) water treatment for decreasing mineralization by dilution with water of better quality. On the second way the new method is offered. The method to improve water quality under trickle irrigation of crops, when watering is done with water of high salt content. The method includes mixing of mineralized and distilled water. Production of irrigating water of required mineralization is provided with the help of a device that separates irrigating water into two parts using solar energy. One of the parts remains unchanged, and the other one is demineralized, with their subsequent mixing at the necessary proportion or without mixing, using each one separately.
