GULLY MODELING FOR FOREST RECLAMATION PURPOSES
- Land Reclamation, Recultivation, and Land Protection
The objective of the research is to develop the method for accounting friction in the simplified simulation of a dam-break wave propagation to protect lands from flooding. The developed method gives the opportunity to obtain high-quality results without resorting to high-cost computer models to simulate the dam-break wave along the riverbed. The developed algorithm enables to include friction by using additional function which depends on the roughness factor of underlying surface. The developed algorithm allows for automatic initial calibration of the model using data from a digital elevation model. As a result, the algorithm significantly improves the accuracy of the simulation.
