HYDRAULIC EFFICIENCY AND OPERATIONAL RELIABILITY OF LARGE-SCALE CANALS FOR TERRITORIAL REDISTRIBUTION OF RUNOFF

Annotation

The paper considers hydraulic justification of parameters for large-scale canals for runoff transfer. The objective of the work is to develop criteria and estimation methods of hydraulic efficiency and reliability of large-scale canals. Analyzing operating experience, the criteria for conveyance, permissible velocities, relative width, efficiency, indicators of technical state and operating safety were formulated. On the basis of the known equation of A. D. Altschul for Chezy coefficient, using natural data for one of the large-scale canals in the south Russia, the determination of constant coefficients involving in the equation is considered. As a result, for the first time the improved calculating relationship for all parameters in metric dimension was obtained. To estimate quantitatively the operational reliability of largescale canals, the methodology on the base of Bayes method using four diagnostic features was substantiated and illustrated by calculation sample.
