GULLY MODELING FOR FOREST RECLAMATION PURPOSES
- Land Reclamation, Recultivation, and Land Protection
The aim of research is to substantiate theoretically the hierarchical system of forest reclamation for regulating natural-anthropogenic landscapes of Russian natural zones. Methodology of research is a systematic approach. To regulate natural-anthropogenic landscapes (NAL) it was proposed to use a system of forest plantations, which elements (subsystems) can be massive, striped and curtained forests, forest belts, and other protective stands. Such system is a means of ecological, economic and social adaptation of diverse land use to landscape structure of any hierarchy level from the facies to the natural zone. The main scientific problems were identified: substantiation of the hierarchical forest reclamation regulation system of natural-anthropogenic landscapes; development of a geoinformation system (GIS) for such a system; study of meliorative role of forest plantations phytomass by types of NAL and various levels of the landscape structure hierarchy. The problems of the practice of forest reclamation regulation NAL are to solve the following tasks: biological (with the help of forest plantations) technologies of modern agrarian production; increase of forest capacities for reclamation of urban and industrial landscapes; harmonization of road landscapes with forest reclamation technologies; rehabilitation of recreational landscapes; improvement of forest reclamation technologies for water industry landscapes; development of forest recultivation technologies of barren lands. To justify the proportions and scope of silvicultural and forestry works, first of all an inventory of forest plantations by types of natural anthropogenic landscapes and levels of the landscape hierarchy of natural zones should be carried out, with obtaining information on areas, age, conservation, status, and institutional affiliation of plantations.
