GULLY MODELING FOR FOREST RECLAMATION PURPOSES
- Land Reclamation, Recultivation, and Land Protection
Purpose: to establish calculation dependencies and develop a methodology for justifying the parameters of main and distribution pipelines installed as part of the irrigation network of drip irrigation systems.
Materials and methods. The methodology for justifying the parameters is based on the classical Darcy – Weisbach formula for determining pressure losses in pipelines, known dependencies and the data of the author's study devoted to determining the values of the hydraulic resistance coefficient to the liquid flow through pressure water pipelines.
Results. Based on the analysis of 22 known empirical dependencies, the necessary to clarify the known formulas for determining Darcy parameter as applied to the drip irrigation systems in gardens for the entire range of influencing factors: Reynolds number Re = 2500–500000; pipeline diameters d = 63–500 mm and flow velocity V = 0.4–2.9 m/s was established. Taking into account the established set of influencing parameters, using the water flow continuity equation, the relationship for determining the Reynolds number, and the author's relationship for determining the Darcy parameter, the Darcy – Weisbach formula is transformed into a form that allows for determining pressure losses in sections of main and distribution pipelines based on the flow rates at their head gauge line Q, their length L, the adopted value of the pipeline internal diameter d, and the coefficient of kinetic viscosity of the liquid flow.
Conclusions. The author's empirical dependences are proposed for calculating the Darcy parameter λ, pressure losses in water pipelines hw, and the diameters d of main and distribution pipelines, and a methodology for justification of their parameters is developed based on these dependences.
