JUSTIFICATION AND DESIGN OF LAND RECLAMATION TOOLS FOR PRECISION IRRIGATED AGRICULTURE

Annotation

Purpose: to develop techniques for increasing the irrigation water absorption rate using new designs of combined implements for tillage and increasing reclamation status of irrigated lands with the function of “precise” subsoil application of ameliorants.

Materials and methods. Practice-oriented principles of reclamation science, including field experiments, were used. The methodological basis of the research were intuitive-associative methods of theoretical and technical design, based on the “positive heuristics” phenomenon.

Results and discussion. Innovative designs of soil tilling and reclamation implements for the simultaneous soil tillage and subsurface application of ameliorants are proposed. These implements allow for the soil density reduction in the 0–0.30 m layer by 11.7 % by the end of the irrigation period, compared to conventional autumn plowing, ensuring a high content of agronomically valuable aggregates after tillage at a level of 55.4 %, and increasing the irrigation water absorption rate by 23.0–23.3 %, which leads to the nutrient preservation in the arable soil layer due to the absence of their contact with surface liquid runoff.

Conclusions. Providing indicators of precision irrigated agriculture cannot be achieved without the use of innovative tilling implements that enable the combination of technological operations. Under the compacted, long-irrigated light chestnut soils of the Lower Volga region, the target indicators can be achieved, including increasing the irrigation water absorption rate and deep subsurface incorporation of organic and mineral fertilizers.
